Day 11

Hi Guys, by now you've realized that Day 10 was by Lyn, but now here's the real story.
Our game drive day before yesterday nearly ended in tradgedy when the Doddle tried to mount a male elephant - surely the Doddle can't be gay!  It was close.  We had just looked at the 32 Battalian graves and I was adjusting the GPS when this rather large elephant appeared before the Doddle.  I swerved, we all screamed (Ralph's still drying his trousers) - the elephant ran,  my adrenalin pumped like no tomorrow!
Then last night at Camp Kwando, after we had treated ourselves to a meal in the restaurant and a couple of bottles of wine (preceeded  by G&T's) there was a hippo grazing right next to us!  Like an efficient discernible lawnmower that we could hear but not see - absolute magic.
Today we are at Nambwa Community Camp on the opposite bank of the Kwando River from Camp Kwando yesterday.  Camp Kwando had lovely grass and a clean pool (hence the hippo) and Nambwa is a lot more basic but also very beautiful.  Our game drive today produced a hairy water crossing and lots of ellies and baboons.  The buck are now very commonplace and extremely plentiful.
We are currently cooking up a stir fry of leftovers and bully beef on gas tonight as a relief from braai.
No pictures today guys as no electricty here, so time limited.  Promise lots of photos tomorrow night from Katimoa Mulilo.
Take Care Out There - till tomorrow.

  1. I am following your travels with absolute envy...except for the Black Mamba, of course. I did see two of those in Kruger, many years ago, in the road.
