Springbok to Keetmanshoop via Grunau:
Fairly uneventful tar trip besides a stop at the Shell outside Grunau tended by the Adams family - obviously no fresh blood in the area for a very long time.
Keet hasn't changed much since our last visit around 8 years ago - brandy and coke swilling boere in the local hotel bar, dusty streets with lots of people doing nothing. The photo was taken in same said bar with plenty ribbing by the famers ("hey, you can't take a picture of my family without me in it!") Still, nice quiver tree forests (odd trees) and giants playground (odd rocks).
The pic of the baboon was specially for Rebecca who would have been horrified! We had seen lots of baboons on our way to Keetmanshoop and I'd commented to Simon that I bet the 'bunny huggers' don't get them protected in this part of the world.... Take note Simon's Town - the baboons don't come anywhere near town or the farmhouses!
ReplyDeleteOh this is going to hilarious! I am so pleased to be home sharing it with you, rather than there.
ReplyDeleteSorry Si, doddle on. x Love Sue
